Planet Protector Challenge – Terms and Conditions

The Planet Protector Challenge is a competition for state funded West Sussex schools, inviting the schools to undertake up to eight missions that can be used as a whole school engagement activity, a year group or class challenge.

Eligibility

The Planet Protector Challenge is open to only state funded primary schools in West Sussex.
Eligible schools can gain digital mission badges by reporting the details of completed Planet Protector Challenge Missions.
The Textiles and Battery Recycling Missions are only eligible if completed through taking part in Wastebusters’ free Recycle to Read campaign on the ‘Pod’ (https://jointhepod.org/recycle-to-read).
The Textile and Battery Recycling Missions can be completed through taking part in Wastebusters’ free Recycle to Read campaign on the Pod’ (https://jointhepod.org/recycle-to-read) or via other providers.

The Planet Protector Challenge

The Planet Protector Challenge runs until the end of the academic year 2024.
Awards are distributed within two weeks of the criteria being fulfilled.
The prizes available for the first three schools being awarded Ambassador by completing eight Missions (including the Textiles and Battery Recycling Missions) will receive double their Recycling Rewards earned during the Challenge period – the Battery and Recycling Missions must have been completed through Wastebusters’ free Recycle to Read campaign on the Pod’ (https://jointhepod.org/recycle-to-read).
By submitting the details of your completion of a Planet Protector Challenge Mission, the individual submitting the information on behalf of their school agrees for Wastebuster/ The Pod (www.jointhepod.org) to capture their data in accordance with these terms.

Planet Protector Challenge Award criteria

The Planet Protector Challenge gives schools the chance to earn award certificates and digital logos they can use on communications, when they reach the following award levels:

Bronze – for completing two missions.
Silver – for completing four missions.
Gold – for completing six missions.
Ambassador – for completing all eight missions.

Terms

No alternative prizes are available.
Each Mission should be reported separately. Multiples of the same mission can be undertaken with all results being added to Mission totals in West Sussex. Participating schools will only receive one Mission badge per Mission, each academic year.
The promoters reserve the right to provide substitute prizes.
Unclaimed prizes: if for any reason a winning school cannot be contacted or is unresponsive for one month after the closing date, a different winner will be selected.
By winning any prize in the competition you agree to have recognition of your school promoted as the winner of the prize in all campaign communications by Wastebuster and West Sussex Waste Partnership. You also agree to provide a quotation in recognition of your prize winning, that can be used in communications.
Wastebuster reserves the right to change or cancel this competition at any stage and without prior notice, if it deems necessary, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.
Schools are eligible to receive one printed Challenge Pack on request, all materials for the Challenge can be downloaded from the Challenge website.

How we will use your information

As part of the submission the follow personal information is requested

Email address	To act as the contact for communications about the Challenge, including contacting winners
Impact data	Impact data will be used to indicate the total impact of the Challenge and may be used in social media channels and communications by Wastebuster (including connected brands like the Pod) and West Sussex Waste Partnership.
User Generated Content (extra information upon submission including; photo’s, videos, blog reports etc.)	User generated content may be used in social media channels and communications by Wastebuster (including connected brands like the Pod) and West Sussex Waste Partnership.

Apart from the usage given above, we will not share your personal information with any other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes, nor will we pass on your details to other websites.

The promoter is Wastebuster CIC (company number: 05883640) who is registered address is at: The Bothy, Albury Park, Albury, Guildford, Surrey. GU5 9BH (www.wastebuster.co.uk).
For avoidance of doubt Wastebuster CIC owns The Pod (www.jointhepod.org).
The West Sussex Waste Partnership is an additional partner and promoter on behalf of Wastebuster who is registered at County Hall, West St, Chichester PO19 1RG (https://westsussex.gov.uk/recycling)

Wastebuster are committed to respecting your personal information and ensuring we are transparent with you in relation to how we will use it. The personal information we use if you register for a competition and why we use it

First name, surname and email address (if personal email address is used). Analytical data on your use of our site – this can include your IP address.

To validate your eligibility for the competition and ensure you receive the correct communications.
To manage our relationship with you including to respond to your requests or queries and to manage complaints.
To fulfil your request to take part in the competition.
We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our site, to analyse user trends, to track user movement, and to gather broad demographic information—all for the purpose of continually improving our website and delivering personalised, custom content. Wastebuster will not use your IP address as personal data, it will be used to give the location of you down to a county or city level only.

We may, if necessary, also use your information to defend legal rights or to obtain legal advice and to manage any complaint that you might have. We ensure that your rights and interests are protected when we do this.

Contract

If your state-funded school has been given Wastebuster membership by your local authority or district/borough and the law permits Wastebuster to handle your personal information where necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations.

Consent

Wastebuster are permitted to use your personal data when you consent for us to do so (e.g. for direct marketing purposes).

Where we rely on consent as the lawful basis for processing your personal information, you can withdraw your consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Performance of a contract

Your Wastebuster membership may be for a specified amount of time. In these situations, Wastebuster will endeavour to advise you prior to your membership ending of the expiry date so that you can consider re-registering should you so desire.

If you choose to receive marketing from Wastebuster

By consenting to marketing you agree that your personal details and the information you provide as part of any request, will be processed by Wastebuster as data controller, to provide personalised marketing and for market research purposes.

Where Wastebuster will store your personal information
